Twins swept by league foe Prairie

POST FALLS - Coming off the high of winning a tournament this past weekend, the Lewis-Clark Twins experienced the low of being swept by a league foe Wednesday.
Prairie of Post Falls beat the Twins 8-4 and 8-7 in American Legion baseball action.
The Twins (20-7 overall, 2-2 in league) had a chance to win both games. In the opener, they led 4-0 but had to remove pitcher Kyle Van Boeyen because of pitch-count concerns.
Prairie responded by scoring one run in the fifth and seven in the sixth. Preston Benson lashed two home runs, including a three-run shot in the big inning. The Twins also committed all three of their errors in the sixth.
In the second game, the Twins rallied from a five-run deficit to go ahead 7-6. But in the bottom of the seventh, Benson drove in the game-tying run, then the game-winning run scored on an L-C passed ball.
The Twins won't have much time to lick their wounds: They open play in the Yakima Wood Bat tournament today.
