Twins win at State for 2nd straight day

BOISE - The Treasure Valley Stars kept up early, but the Lewis-Clark Twins eventually pulled away with five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to emerge with a 11-7 win Thursday, their second straight victory at the Idaho Class AA state tournament at Timberline High.
The Twins were led offensively by Kolt Olson, who banged out five hits - all of them singles. L-C catcher Jackson Fuller, with three hits, had a team-high four RBI.
The Stars scored in each of the first three innings to take a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the third, but L-C would take the advantage back with four runs to make it 6-5.
The Twins added some cushion with one run in the fifth and four more in the sixth. Meanwhile, L-C pitcher Tyler Poe found his groove and held the opponent scoreless until he was pulled in the seventh inning.
"That's a good lineup, the ball flies down here, too," L-C coach Kyle Blackwell said. "He kind of settled in after the second there. They jumped on us and he found a rhythm and pitched tough."
Jaden Phillips reached base four times, notching two hits and drawing two walks. Danny Robinson had two hits, including a home run, and Josh Moore tacked on two more with a triple.
One of the final four teams remaining, L-C plays at 6 p.m. PDT against the Idaho Falls Bandits.
