Luke White had three homeruns to wrap up the first day of play at the Dwight Church Tournament at Harris Field, a solo moonshot in the Twins' opening 5-1 win against Nampa before smacking two against Southridge. L-C mounted a comeback in the seventh against the Bandits, but were unable to maintain momentum and fell 7-6.
"We gotta finish baseball games, we need to score when it's tough, when the pressures on," Twins coach Kyle Blackwell said. "(Southridge is) a really good club, in some respects they had our number. Those are the types of teams we need to beat and I think we're perfectly capable of that. More so, we need to let them know (that we're going to) fight."
In the second game, the Twins (8-2) led 5-3 heading into the top of the sixth, but allowed Southridge to score four runs before wrapping up the visiting half of the inning.
"Munoz pitched a good game, he competed with all of those batters," Blackwell said. "We gotta pick up the baseball behind him."
The score didn't change from 7-5 until the bottom of the seventh, when Chandler Tibbets hit a triple to land on base. A double from Kole Olson allowed Tibbets to score in what was "a little bit of fight," according to Blackwell.
The game ended two outs later with a pop fly and a ground-out.
"I'm more concerned with how they hit when the pressure's on than how they hit when we're up eight-nothing," Blackwell said.
